Yarn: TFA Red Label Cashmere/Silk Single in Papaya

Keeping up the shawl theme for this week I thought it the perfect time to feature this gorgeous Swallowtail Shawl knit by Wynk (aka Melissa) a knitter that I've never met, but that I feel like I know because we have a very good friend in common. See that gorgeous bride up there? That's Katie, one of my oldest friends. Our families have neighbouring cottages in Nova Scotia and we've been spending our summer's together forever. Katie met her perfect guy and the two were married earlier this month. Katie is a knitter, and Melissa contacted me earlier this year telling me that she wanted to knit something special for Katie, and what colour did I think would work best for her. The decision was easy! Papaya is so Katie! Papaya was not yet part of the permanent collection but it was the best colour for her, so I dyed up a few skeins and sent them off. Katie loves her beautiful shawl and I love that TFA yarns and my collaboration with Melissa held a special place in her wedding photographs, is there anything more special than that? We couldn't make it to her nuptials in Houston, TX, but I feel like we were there in spirit because of this shawl.

And ps: I love how Melissa got creative with the business card and postcard that I include with every order. She wrapped some extra yarn around the business card for Katie to have on hand should she ever need it for mending. Then she cut the postcard into a beautiful hang tag - perfect for writing down the pattern and care details of the shawl. The perfect gift!
